Our Faith

• First church built at the corner of Harding Street and Oak Avenue in 1927.
• St. Patrick was designated a parish in 1943.
• This first building served the small, growing parish until early 1950 when it was
moved across the street later serving as the first Carlsbad City Hall and library.
• In 1950, a Rectory and Parish Hall were build on Harding Street. Mass was held
in the hall while the second church was being built on the site of the original church
and was dedicated December 3, 1950.
• St. Patrick Parish School opened in September 1962 on Pio Pico Drive. This was
the result of the School Building Fund begun by the parishioners in 1960. The school
was staffed by Sisters of Charity, BVM and served grades one through seven.
• The Parish Center on Adams Street was built and dedicated in 1977, serving as an
  all-purpose building and church.
• Our present church at the corner of Tamarack and Adams was dedicated
  on March 17, 1985.
• In 1988 a Kindergarten was added, and the Junior High building in 1989. The school
enrollment in grades K–8 was 293 students in 1990.
• As enrollment increased, temporary modular buildings were installed to allow the
expansion of the school to accommodate two of each grade K–8. The current
  enrollment is 467 students.

Based on the needs assessment in 2009, the Church requires aesthetic
and functional improvements and the School requires reconstruction.
