We are a K through 8th grade elementary/Jr. High Catholic school. Many of our students attend their local public high schools and many attend the Catholic High Schools in San Diego and Orange Counties. These are as follows: Academy of Our Lady of Peace (all girls located in San Diego), Saint Augustine High School (all boys located in San Diego), University of San Diego High School (co-ed located in San Diego. USDHS will soon be relocating to Del Mar and will be renamed "Cathedral High School" due to open August 2005),
- Where do most of St. Patrick Parish School students live?
Most of our families live in Carlsbad and South Carlsbad. We have many families living in Oceanside, Vista, and San Marcos. We are happy to assist new families with finding a carpool.
- How does St. Patrick Parish School compare with other Catholic and public schools in the area?
We at St. Patrick Parish School believe in educating the "whole" child. As our mission statement reads: " St. Patrick Parish School provides spiritual and moral guidance in a Catholic environment incorporating an academic program that challenges each child to reach his/her potential and prepares students to serve God and community as fully productive members of society." We, the administration, faculty and staff are dedicated to these ideals. We invite you to visit our campus and/or make an appointment to sit in a classroom and observe our mission statement in progress.
- What are your curriculum standards and are your teachers credentialed?
Our curriculum is set forth by the State of California and the Catholic Diocese of San Diego. In many areas, our curriculum is one grade level ahead. For instance, our first graders are working out of second grade spelling books. Our teachers are all California credentialed and many have advanced degrees.
- Does St. Patrick Parish School accept non-Catholic students?
Yes! We accept students of any race and religion (please see our "non-Discrimination Policy"). However, all students are required to participate in the daily religion curriculum and attend Mass weekly.
- Do you offer after school sports and extracurricular activities?
Competitive sports are offered for 5th through 8th graders: Volleyball, basketball, flag football, soccer and track. Our coaching staff is made up of parent volunteers and games are played against the other north San Diego County Catholic schools. We also offer a children's choir and drama club.
- My child is 3 years old; do I need to put her on a wait list?
No. Our registration process is as follows: Your child needs to be five (5) years old by September 1st. We re-register our current families first, then our Parishioners, and then the general public. If your child meets our cut off date, you need to contact the Registrar in September or October of the year PRIOR to your child starting kindergarten.
- When can I register my children?
We re-register our current families incoming siblings and our Parishioners in November. Open registration begins the first week of December.
- Does my child need to be tested prior to acceptance into St. Patrick Parish School?
Yes. We test all new students entering our school. Testing is administered in April.
- My child misses the cut off date by 2 days. Do I have to wait the extra year?
